  14. This file is an example of a News Item that can be used
  15. in combination with FSLOGIN version 2.20 or later. News
  16. Items can be used to inform your users of particular
  17. events, like planned server downtime, availability of
  18. new software and the like.
  19.  
  20. There are two levels of news that can be presented to
  21. the users. The first level is the News Item that is
  22. placed in the SYS:LOGIN directory and is, by nature of
  23. the SYS:LOGIN directory, available for all users. This
  24. News Item can be presented the moment FSLOGIN is
  25. started at a workstation.

  27. The second level News Item is the one that is placed in
  28. the SYS:PUBLIC directory of a server. This News Item
  29. can be used to inform users on a particular server
  30. only. The News Item in the SYS:PUBLIC directory can be
  31. presented when a user has entered a valid
  32. userid/password.

  34. The presentation of the News Items can be restricted
  35. within the bounds of a Release date and time and a
  36. Revoke date and time. These parameters make it possible
  37. to prepare a News Item which should be released on a
  38. certain date and time. And like all the news its old
  39. after a while. The Revoke date and time parameters can
  40. be used to plan for a certain date and time when the 
  41. News Item no longer is meaningful.

  43. The values for ReleaseDate and RevokeDate should be
  44. YYYY-MM-DD. The values for ReleaseTime and RevokeTime
  45. should be HH:MM. The Description string is mandatory.
  46. The text block between the labels [TEXT] and [ENDTEXT]
  47. is mandatory as well.
